Who’s behind GoCoach?
GoCoach is built by Ben. A dad of three who ended up coaching all three of his kids’ flag football teams, 19 seasons and counting. Everything on this site is the playbook he wishes he’d had the night he first said yes.
The short version
My calendar looks like a game of Tetris. I’m a CEO, I have three kids, and somehow I ended up coaching all three of their flag football teams. Between them, that’s 19 seasons on the sideline so far.
When I started, I had no idea what I was doing. I spent hours searching for drills and drawing up plays that were way too complicated. I felt like I was making it up as I went. Here’s what I learned: kids don’t need a perfect coach. They need someone who shows up prepared, keeps it simple, and makes it fun.
What GoCoach believes
We’re not here to win championships. We’re here to build a lifelong love of the sport. Every practice is a chance to model hard work, persistence, and being a good teammate. We follow the Positive Coaching Alliance’s ROOTS framework for sportsmanship: respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self.
Why it’s free
Because the thing that keeps kids in sports is a prepared, positive coach, and most youth coaches are volunteer parents with no time. Charging for the basics would just mean fewer prepared coaches. The reading is free and always will be. If you want the printable season kit, that’s where we ask for your email.
Questions, corrections, war stories
I’m still coaching, which means I’m still learning. If a drill flopped for you or a play worked better with a tweak, tell me and I’ll fold it back into the site for the next coach.
